The Early Cape Three design reflects the proportions and detailing of primitive capes built in the mid 1700’s. Its street façade is simple and symmetrical with four windows, a plank door with transom and large center chimney. Despite their simplicity, antique capes have a particular charm and coziness that result from their proportion and human scale. With austere exterior trim elements and divided light windows, this quaint design captures both character and quality, uncommon in new home construction today.

This home benefits from bright, open interior spaces. The design is especially popular with empty-nesters with a first floor master suite, including a large walk-in closet and master bath. An open living room and dining area flow into the large kitchen with a walk-in pantry. Two angled fireplaces face the living room and kitchen, further adding warmth to this large, informal space. A farmer’s porch off the kitchen leads to a screened porch with separate entry, providing a protective space to enjoy the outdoors and adding a functional element of human scale to this elevation. The functional mudroom ell houses a half bath, laundry facilities and additional storage.

Despite its compact appearance, the second floor plan is quite comfortable. It has two well proportioned bedrooms and a full bathroom. The attached garage is purposefully small to keep it in scale with the house, but quite adequate for two full sized cars. A lean-to shed off the garage further breaks down its scale and provides additional storage. The bonus room above the garage is expanded by the storie and a half wall and access is gained through a heated stairwell that leads from the connector.
